Hi there,

yes I'm still experiencing.

It's something related to they way that the excerpt is created for these, but since I don't know how to code or how to change in the wordpress .php files I won't touch them.

I've found some websites mentioning what I should change in the template, but it didn't help.

Try it yourself. Inster a image right at the beggining of the post (it must be the very first line in the post) and add a caption to it. You will see that it displays "[caption .." in the popular list.

Thanks

Ok, now I need help again :)

I've added a image right at the beginnning of a post with a caption. What happens now is that the popular_posts lists in the sidebar shows the [caption] code as the excerpt instead of just showing the text.

So instead of having

"New post is here, read about this bla bla .."

it shows something like:

"[caption class="blalba"]image text blalbal[/caption]New post is ..."

How can I solve that issue?

Never mind, found out what was wrong ...

Problem was that I don't know much about CSS and the script from aweber was generating a <form> tag that was set for the search box in the template theme.

Just editing a bit of CSS and everything is fine now.

I'm glad that this theme (dunno about the others) is pretty well programmed and even a guy like me who has not a clue about CSS can understand its logic :). I've tried different themes and I couldn't edit anything since they were a bit more complicated.

Thanks anyway

I solved the translation thing using notepad++ to make it easier for me to identify text. Now I want to use a banner sized 950x169 px and I want to use it to cover the entire width of the upper area. How do I do this? Everytime I try to edit the height in the header everything moves out of place. Thanks!

Hi Dami,

It's currently setup to display images/logo.gif. If you want it to display the text, you'll need to modify the CSS and header.php. A simple thing that you can do is this:

a.) edit style.css at line 64
b.) remove background and text-indent
c.) (optional) modify CSS styles

To center image, try using this:
margin: 0 auto;

Hope these help,

Hi, I have a couple of questions about the Render theme:

1. For the top-left header image (logo.gif), is it possible to replace this with text only? If yes, how?

2. How can I centre-align images that I place in the "Arbitrary text or HTML" text widget? I have placed some 125x125 and 120x240 banners here, but they display to the left side.

Hi Shinji,

Basically the only thing you'll be needing is the wordpress theme package.

The PSD file will only be needed incase you'd like to modify the website design. The XHTML files on the otherhand will only be useful incase you are not running a wordpress site.

First you have to setup wordpress on your website.
Second, download the theme package that you'd like to use at the members area: http://www.wpthemedesigner.com/amember/member.php.
Third, on your website, go to the admin area, login as administrator and go to Appearance -> Add New Themes -> Upload. Browse your theme package then click install now. This will install your theme package on your wordpress site.
Lastly, go to Appearance -> Themes, find your theme and activate it!

That's it! If you'll visit your website, it will now look the same with the theme that you are using.

Hope this helps,

Hi Tanya,

What kind of trouble are you experiencing right now with the images?
Can you specify? To show images in Render Magazine all you have to do is to attach an uploaded image within the post. To be more specific here's how:

Using Media Library (This assumes that you have already created the post):
1. Go to Media Library->Add New.
2. Browse and select your image file then Save all changes.
3. At the Media Library area, find your image then click the "attach" link at the "Attached to" column.
4. Find the Post where you like to attach the image. That's it. Your image is now attached to the post, and it will be used in the slider and as thumbnail.

Within Post:
1. Go to Edit Post or Create a New Post.
2. Select the image "Add an Image" located above the content area.
3. Browse and select your image file then Save all changes. That's it.

If there's anything else, just let us know so we can help.

Hi Lillie,

Perhaps you may consider using NextGEN Gallery plugin.
You can see the plugin here: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/nextgen-gallery/
Demo of slideshows here: http://nextgen-gallery.com/slideshow/nextgen-monoslideshow/

It has an own dashboard for managing images.

There are several themes here that I like, however, I do not want a featured content slider where the images are pulled from separate posts. Instead, I would like that space to contain an image gallery that I can easily administer through the dashboard. Is there anyway to accomplish this? Thanks for any and all responses.

Hi Maura,

Here's the shortest fix that I recommend.
First, edit dp_attachment_image function. Notice the return $images line. See below:

function dp_attachment_image($postid=0, $size='thumbnail', $attributes='') {

Right now the standard behavior is that if there are no images in a post, just an empty grey background appears on the main index page above the post title and excerpt. If the post has images, the LAST image is cropped down and appears within the grey background on main index page. If I'm reading the function correctly in functions.php, it's actually parsing through ALL the images in the post and putting them on the main index page, with the last one staying. Seems a bit like extra work and not the behavior I want anyway.

The current function being called is:

# Displays post image attachment (sizes: thumbnail, medium, full)
function dp_attachment_image($postid=0, $size='thumbnail', $attributes='') {
if ($postid<1) $postid = get_the_ID();
if ($images = get_children(array(
'post_parent' => $postid,
'post_type' => 'attachment',
'numberposts' => 1,
'post_mime_type' => 'image',)))
foreach($images as $image) {
$attachment=wp_get_attachment_image_src($image->ID, $size);
?><img src="<?php echo $attachment[0]; ?>" <?php echo $attributes; ?> /><?php
}
}

What I'd like to have happen is if there are images in a post, the first image is always the one that shows up on the main index page. If there are no images associated with the post, I have a default image I want to have appear instead.

I'm hacking around at this but not sure what I'm doing (other than occasionally having a syntax error that crashes the site :) ) so any help is appreciated.
