Compilation of The Best Blogging Tips Part 2

Previous: Compilation of The Best Blogging Tips Part 1

26. Create Progress Reports – You usually see this on Make Money Online Blogs where they make it a point to produce an income report every month. You can try what I do here at wptd wherein I show all of you my growth report. People like reading progress reports because these encourages them to follow your steps. More importantly, a progress report will show you if you are heading closely to your goals and the particular areas you need to work on.

27. Learn from the Mistake of Others – Do take note of the mistakes that are made by other individuals who have more experience in blogging. This will obviously save you time and effort. However, you must be aware that there are things (strategies perhaps) that might not work on others but could work on you.

28. Enjoy Blogging – Perhaps we might get caught up with all the planning and promoting that we forget to have fun and Enjoy Blogging. When updating your blog suddenly becomes a task and a burden, then you are
probably experiencing blogging burnt out. Never lose your enthusiasm in blogging.. If needed, take a break from it and re-assess your situation.

29. Do Video Blogging – Try to do Video Blogging if possible. This is highly recommended if you plan to showcase a tutorial. Clearly, it is more efficient to show your readers exactly how it’s done as it becomes easier to follow the steps.

30. Podcasting - This method of blogging is usually effective when doing interviews. It can get boring
reading the transcribed versions especially when it can get really long.

31. Lists or Bullets - Lists or Bullets are usually instant hits! Why? It’s so much easier to digest information this way. This is a PROVEN formula to attract lots of readers with low attention spans and a high threshold for good information!

32. Create Interesting Titles – It’s obviously the first thing your readers will see so you have to capture their attention. Titles also influences your Search Engine Rankings so always try and incorporate keywords you are optimizing for.

33. Add Images to your Posts – Images enhance posts by giving visual point of interest, grabbing attention, and drawing your readers eyes down a post beyond the first few lines.

34. Keyword Density – Why bore readers with 1000 words? Short blog posts about one subject means having a high keyword density. Keyword rich titles give search engines a good overview of your site and increases your keyword prominence.

35. Make use of Tags – Make use of tags as a way to increase the chances that people who are searching for the topics that you are writing about in your blog to be able to find you.

36. Ask and Involve your Readers – This principle is fairly simple, ask your readers what they want to read about. If you want to release a product, ask for their needs and fill it. That’s it!

37. Feedbacks – Respond and act upon feedbacks. Speak TO them not AT them. Their appreciation of this gesture will be reflected by them continually returning to your blog.

38. Be Generous – Could be different things — advice like blog consultation, free service.. just be generous. You’ll find that doing favors for others is a remarkably easy way to establish long-term relationships.

39. Contest – Either you sponsor a Contest or you run one! You will surely get traffic, subscribers and backlinks in the process, guaranteed!!

40. Market in Moderation – I know most of us would want to run a blog to Make Money but just make sure you don’t over do it. If you use too much marketing in your blog, your readers will be most likely be annoyed, thus, you are losing subscribers.

41. Be Authentic – What if you are paid to promote a product that you have never used or would never even bother to try? Instead of leaving your reputation at stake, you don’t have to tell your audience any lies. You can simply inform them about the product and the benefits that they would possibly get from it. Sending out Information is also an effective  sales strategy.

42. Social Networking Sites -  This is in  fact the easiest way to drive targeted traffic to your blog. Digg, Stumble Upon, Blog Catalog, Delicious etc.. are the popular ones. Use it positively and try not to spam.

43. Stop Being a part of the A-List crowd – Never exhaust at getting any promotion or even attention from A-List Bloggers. It’s a waste of time. What you do is to network to blogs which has the same size as yours or even the new ones. These are the same bloggers who will be needing the same exposure as you.

44. Join Forums in your Niche – Almost every possible niche has a forum or social network which is relevant to it. Find these communities, join them and start participating in discussions. Communities allow you to gain new readers quickly and also allows you get some backlinks from forum signatures and other community pages.

45. Blog’s Loading Time – Make sure you know the average of your blog’s loading time and improve it until it loads a lot faster. You don’t want to lose potential visitors.

46. Permalinks – Having www.wpthemedesigner.com/make-money-online is more search engine friendly than www.wpthemedesigner.com/?p=110. Therefore never forget to customize it.

47. Tagline – If it’s possible for you to create a smart tagline for your blog then that would be to your advantage. It kind of serves as your signature. There are billions of blogs and you simply want to stand-out, right?

48. Keep Learning – Continuously learn about your blogging material as this will help you in adding and creating more content to publish that could be interesting and useful to your readers.

49. Watch your Words – Whatever it is you publish online, you are responsible for it. Keep in mind that a blog is public medium. If you are trying to tackle a sensitive and or controversial topic, it is still best to exercise prudence and precaution. Be careful of what you are posting about other people and other things.

50. Be passionate – Be passionate at what you are doing and this will bring you success. Stay motivated and keep the fire burning.

Technorati Rank – 2,135
Alexa Ranking – 139,xxx
Page Rank: PR5

Growth Assessment

July was a pretty slow month for me when it comes to driving in heavy traffic. Reasons are 1.) I didn’t get to post consistently and 2.) the contest by Market Leverage came in a little late.

However, I have managed to increase my RSS Subscribers by a hundred and Page Rank tremendously increased from 0 to 5!

August 2008 Goals

I will be focusing on my traffic this month if I could double it then that would be rad! A much more realistic Goal would be to reach 50,000 at the end of the month. Also, I will be working on a consistent increase in my RSS Subscribers as well.

August 2008 Plans

I have slowly started Monetizing the site, installed Google Adsense and will be making Sponsored Reviews and Posts. I will start doing Private Ad Sales as well and will be working on Affiliate Networking, if possible. Hopefully, I will be able to add an Income Report for August 08.

I will also be releasing the Free Ebook I have promised, I am currently working on it but even if its free, I want to take as much time as I can on it.. gathering data and formulating the strategies I have used into an easier step-by-step presentation.

I have also decided to reward Top Commentators, (calling out to those winners who have not claimed their prize yet) and the same incentive will be given this month.

WPTD’s Change of Direction

I have shared to all of you that I have plans of starting an Online Business. In fact, some of you may have noticed that I’m slow on replying emails (like mintspot). That’s because I have been dedicating a large portion of my time to it so that my partner and I will get to launch it as scheduled. All is good at the moment, in fact we picked out a cool domain name for it, yey!

Anyhow, this obviously means, I won’t be able to maximize WPTD at its full potential. Therefore, I have intentions of selling this site. I’ll set the starting bid at $5,000. (ooops!! Don’t react yet! :p, continue reading..)

No, I have not started any formal auction and have not listed this for sale just yet. I have however consulted Dan of DailyBlogTips and sought his advice and would like to thank him for his time and wisdom. I have had offers though and have exchanged emails with those who have shown interest. Which is why I have managed to post an initial bid based from their offers.

I am however hoping to keep this site a little longer so no listings will be made until I receive offers based on my starting bid, 3 interested bidders will have to mean that I put this site on sitepoint already (for formality and protection of buyer and seller). Why buy this now? Because, I will be monetizing the site already which means I will be able to sell this at $xx,xxx by then. So the starting bid is totally a steal! I am however willing to share my input on how you can re-brand this site and what are the possible income streams you can possibly start and make. It’s just roughly 4 months, you can totally re-brand this!

So let’s move on.. yes, I will continue to release more Free Themes for everyone but since I do not have a lot of time in my hands at the moment. I might try to contact Leland of Themelab if he’s interested to code the designs I have that I wish to release for free. Or anyone out there willing to collaborate with me?

That was a lot, right? Whew*

Update: (a reaction to all your comments).. Actually guys, it’s still after all “just a plan”. if you look closer I have mentioned that “I’m trying to hold on to it as much as I can“. Ever since I started, I have been transparent with my goals. I have a feeling, I can still do a lot more here on WPTD even if my hands are full already on my new project (it’s a challenge on my part). However, you must understand that I have worked hard on this site and I simply want WPTD to continue to grow. Thus, if it means letting the site go, then I will oblige but if it means 3 or more years of sticking to it..

now, wouldn’t that rock? :)
