DoFollow or NoFollow?

I used to own a PR4 Website and I made it DoFollow. Because of that, a lot of people actually take time to comment so as to get some PR juice from the site. However, this made me think as to why other bloggers still refure to join the DoFollow movement? Are they worried of getting a lot of Spam? There’s akismet to take care of that, ey? *wonders*

You Must Improve Your Blog!

Computer Problems

1. ABOUT and CONTACT information – You must let your readers know the purpose of your blog/site. Why should they keep on visiting? What do you have to offer? Also, do not ever forget to make your contact information visible and easy to find. If it is possible to dedicate an entire page on the many ways they can possibly contact you, now that is even better!

2. Add Images/Pictures to your posts – Yes! You have to catch your readers’ attention! Sometimes, one paragraph after another can get really boring.. so spice it up a bit!

3. Subscribe to your own RSS Feed – It helps when you actually know what you’re sending out to everyone on your list. It will also guide you in formatting your posts because you get to see it yourself first-hand.

4. Navigation and Site Usability – You have to make sure that getting around your site is simple and consistent. It would be awesome to have a thousand “cool features” in your site but are they even useful? Or does it only confuse your visitors?

5. Too many Ads! – You have your ads plastered all over.. and even getting in the way of your content!! Yes, it is important to be able to monetize your site but do it effectively. If you actually have a good content going on.. then don’t make it seem like an MFA (Made for Adsense) at all!

6. Interact with your Readers – If they comment on your post, then simply comment back or return the gesture of visiting their site as well. If they send you an email then answer back. Make friends. Network with other bloggers.

7. Be Transparent – You want more RSS Feed Readers? Install a plugin that displays a message for first time visitors asking them to subscribe to your blog’s feed and the benefits thereof. You want more comments? Ask a question to make it easier to discuss your article. You want people to purchase your product? Persuade them.. Be transparent with your goals and how you want your site visitors to respond. Tell them! Remind them!

8. Contribute – Give something.. free icons, free themes.. run a contest with big prizes.. Somehow, you have to give-back to your audience.

9. Check your Content – Be on a look-out for spelling and grammar and errors before hitting the publish button. Also, make sure you provide fresh content as much as you can.

10. Try to Learn SEO – It doesn’t hurt to learn SEO and you’ll be surprised with the results. In fact, I consider SEO as an art as this would affect your website performance immensely. You are only half a Netrepreneur if you’ve never understood SEO.

Bits and Pieces

I am not in the mood to write a long post nor do I have something grand to say.. I hope these bits and pieces will do for today..

Goodbye Stumbleupon!
What’s up with stumbleUpon? It’s not giving the usual traffic as it does before. A lot of accounts have been banned as well (even established ones). I understand that they are doing some clean-up but have they overdone it? Even editing your own review would need a captcha? Oh.. Come on!!

MMO War
I’m sure you’ve noticed a lot of them are attacking each other! But really.. it all boils down to one thing.. “Controversy creates Traffic”. Thus, they are actually doing each other a favor.. if you attack me, that’s a hot issue right there.. and people would want to hear my side of the story so I also gain visitors! We both have heavy traffic! We both earn money! We’re both happy. *winks*

1 Design a Day Challenge w/ a Twist!!
(If you haven’t, pls read my previous post) I am determined to do this! At the moment, I am just gathering ideas from people.. But I also want to connect to my audience and make it interactive. So here is my idea..

I show you my Design.. I’ll leave it for 24 hours so you can comment on it.. tell me what I have to improve on .. what to add .. and even change.. then I will post a revised version of it in the next 24 hours. Fun isn’t it? Just one problem.. The title “1 Design a Day Challenge” won’t fit into this idea anymore.. Lol.

Advertise on this Blog
I have Four 125×125 spot on my sidebar. Each spot is at $25/90 or $10/30 Days. I know this is just a new site but I am gaining steady traffic and 85 RSS Subscribers in just 10 Days of being online. What does this tell you? wpthemedesigner.com is growing fast and definitely has potential. Also, I will make sure I promote my own “Design Challenge” as heavily as possible.. that alone should make this blog busy. If you are interested, please contact me (yahoo/gmail:wpthemedesigner).

WP Themes
I am now working on the next Free WordPress Theme that I’ll release for free! Also, thank you so much for the warm response on the Mag On Wood Theme. If you have time, please be kind to vote for the theme on the Lunarpages Design Contest.

Tips for Start-Up Blogs

Start-Up Blogging Tips

While I was preparing for my site launch, I’ve gathered some useful tips by asking for advices from fellow bloggers around the web.

1. Press Release – Creating a Press Release can be tricky but do keep one thing in mind, is your article even “newsworthy?” The objective is not to make a Sale or a Marketing Pitch but rather to provide useful information about your product, blog, event or service. Download List of 80 sites to submit your Press Release.

2. Email Marketing – You have to remember that you have a new site and you still have a lot of promoting to do. Why not start it with you contacts? Send an email to everyone on your Contact List informing them of your new project.

3. OnlyWire – Social Bookmarking is one sure way to drive traffic to your site. I suggest you focus on StumbleUpon and Digg, however, there are also tons of social bookmarking sites or services that you can take advantage of. To refrain fro this time consuming strategy, sign up for an account in Only Wire and you get everything done in just one click.

4. Squidoo and HubPages – Creating and Joining Squidoo and HubPages will truly be worthwhile. The pages you create could serve as a gateway for people to reach and visit your site.

5. Blog Catalog, MyBlogLog and Entrecard – these are hot widgets you should not forget to install in your sidebar.

6. Google Analytics – A great tool to analyze how your visitors behave in your site, you should take on of your bouncing rate and popular keywords. Also, this will also help you find out where your visitors are coming from.

7. Directory Submission – Do not forget to submit your site to DMOZ although it could time for your site to be approved. Also, on other reputable web directories. Download Huge Directory List with PR.

8. DoFollow Blogs – Start your Link Building Campaign immediately! Comment on DoFollow Blogs and get some PR Link Juice Love. Download List of DoFollow Blogs with PR.

9. Network/Make Friends with Bloggers – Make friends with Bloggers, most especially those who have the same niche as yours. Do not go for A-list Bloggers, they’re most likely too busy to even bother checking your site. Friends become loyal readers/visitors.

10. RSS Feed Submitter – Another Great way of Advertising and Promoting your site. Download RSS Tools.

Being a New Kid on the Block can be tough but as long as you have something new to offer in this competitive market, then all you have to worry about is your consistency as a blogger and the rest will follow .. (traffic, subscribers, profit and authority in your chosen niche).s

Official Launch!

Online!

After one tedious month of preparing for this site, I am proud to present to all of you my New Project. I have been wanting to buy this domain name for quite some time now but never really had the reason to until I sold my site.. cmdesignlounge.com

What can you expect from wpthemedesigner.com?

Free Premium Quality WordPress Themes!! As most of you already know I am quite fond of 3 Column WordPress Theme Designs. I will also release more Magazine Style WordPress Themes and Professional Themes with good Ads/Banner integration, widgetized sidebars, and ajax tabs.

How often will you release Free WordPress Themes?

Every 3 Themes sold on my WordPress Theme shop and every 25 RSS Subscribers on this site.

WordPress Theme Shop?

Yes, this site will house my WordPress Theme Shop. My Premium WordPress Theme will be sold only once. Why buy Premium WordPress Themes being used by a thousand of bloggers already? You want to stand-out, right? Then buy your own unique Theme!

Will you offer Custom WordPress Themes?

No. I have been offering Custom WordPress Themes for more than a year now. Most of the time, I end up too exhausted.

What if I want a particular theme Design?

Sign up and join my Support Forum and Submit a Wp Theme Request. Post all the details that you would want, much better if you can post a draft of it so that it is much easier to visualize your design.

When will you release your first Free WordPress Theme?

Next week. So do visit this site again and do not forget to Subscribe to my RSS Feed now so you won’t have to wait too long for the next Free WordPress theme release.

Lastly, I would like to apologize for the bare site (it’s new!) and some minor fixes that I need to make. I am still in the process of adding and editing the site. I would like to thank Smaug for his expert coding, Bon for the awesome Toon/Character/Logo and Sabrina for the finishing touches on the header. Specially to those who I can’t mention here on the site (but I’m sure you all know who you are)..
